Gel Polish

Gel polish comes in a variety of colours (There are 16 in stock but colours can be ordered on request) plus clear, and French pink and white, and is painted onto the natural nail then cured under a UV lamp. It does not add length to the nails like nail extensions - it is an alternative to regular nail polish. Not only is it smudge and chip free, but adds strength and can last 3-4 weeks on fingernails, and 8 weeks on toenails. When the time comes to appy a new colour, it is easily soaked off without leaving any damage to the natural nail.

Hollywood Toes
Hollywood toes have become increasingly popular. Despite the name, it is the same as a french polish but is carried out on the toes in gel polish. The toes appear neat and clean with a glossy shine.

Aftercare and Advice:
-
Have the gel soaked off and reapplied regularly to avoid damage occuring to the natural nail where the gel has grown out
-
Do not use the nails as 'tools' or treat them roughly as you could cause them to break
-
Use a cuticle cream or oil daily to help nourish the natural nail as it grows. If you do this the natural nail will be much healthier should you decided to have the gel removed
-
Gently clean under the free edge of the natural nail
-
Use a top coat over the gel that contains a UV block, as sunlight and sunbeds could cause the gel to yellow. If using a sunbed, apply an appropriate topcoat before your appointment, remove the topcoat using an acetone-free nail polish remover after the sunbed, then apply a new coat of topcoat
-
Use appropriate gloves whilst washing up, gardening, doing housework, using hair dyes or self tan
-
Do not bite or pick at the gel or attempt to pull or peel it off
-
If lifting occurs book an appointment to have maintenance carried out, as dirt can become trapped under the gel
Contra-indications to Gel Polish:
What is a contra-indication?

Bacterial or fungal infections.

Inflamed skin around the nail.

Cuts and abrasions in a specific area.
-
Bruised nails.
